Biking Unit
In May 6th grade students take part in a biking unit.  We ask students to bring a bike to school for 2 weeks.  Students ride during class each day in preparation for our annual class bike trip.  An 18 mile trek that ends up at Spring Grove Park.  Students are served a picinic lunch and we enjoy the park for a couple of hours!

Fitness and Training
6th grade students will be introduced to weight training, various exercises as well as aerobic conditioning like running, walking and biking. All students are put through a series of fitness tests to determine the individuals current level of fitness in a variety of areas. These tests are simply to show a students current level of fitness and are not used in the grading of students.

Winter Hiking Unit

In January we have an out door hiking unit.  We walk as a whole class and as smaller groups all around the school grounds on marked routes. Students walk for about 30 minutes in class each day for 2 weeks. When the walking is done the whole 6th grade heads off for a day of winter fun at Pigeon Creek. Students cross country ski, sled and enjoy the warmth of the fire place in the lodge while they eat their lunch. Students may order a sack lunch from our food service or they may bring their own sack lunch or they can bring money and puchase lunch at the lodge (hot dogs, chips, drinks and snacks)
